Podcast website SEO: pages, schema, and internal linking

One URL per episode, breadcrumb navigation, Podcast JSON-LD, and transcripts that do not cannibalize your main topic pages.

If you are new: A single-page site with your bio, embed player, and subscribe links is enough. SEO depth can wait until you are publishing regularly.

Do this first

  • Buy or claim one domain; put your show name + “Listen” buttons above the fold.
  • Create a template you reuse for each episode title + 2 paragraphs + links.
  • Link out to Apple and Spotify explicitly—search engines and humans both like clarity.

Your website should reinforce what apps already know: show identity, episode depth, and clear subscribe paths.

One canonical URL per episode

Avoid duplicate parameters (?id= vs clean slugs). Use consistent titles in <title> tags: Episode name — Show name.

Structured data

Podcast and episode-level JSON-LD (where accurate) can earn rich results. Validate in Google’s Rich Results Test after deploy.

Internal linking hubs

Series pages, topic tags, and “start here” posts funnel new visitors. Link episodes to each other when they reference prior conversations.

Transcripts without cannibalization

If transcripts rank for stray queries instead of your pillar page, tighten intros, add a summary box, and link up to the hub page with descriptive anchor text.
