If you are new: Bookmark this and come back when you change hosting companies. Your first task is getting hosted and listed in directories—not migrating.
When this guide matters
You already have subscribers and a feed URL, and you need to move without breaking Apple/Spotify links. Until then, focus on recording and publishing.
Moving hosts is normal. What must survive is the subscriber relationship—usually via a permanent or redirected RSS URL and identical enclosure URLs where possible.
Before you flip the switch
Export episode metadata and audio from the old host. Document your current feed URL, Apple/Spotify IDs, and any third-party stats integrations. Take screenshots of directory listings in case you need support tickets.
301 redirect on the feed
The gold standard is an HTTP 301 from the old feed URL to the new one. Many podcast-specific hosts automate this during migration. Verify with curl -I or an online redirect checker.
Enclosures and duplicates
Directories hate duplicate shows. Avoid publishing two live feeds with the same content. Ensure each episode’s enclosure URL resolves and returns the correct MIME type after migration.
After cutover
Re-validate in Apple Podcasts Connect and Spotify for Podcasters. Expect propagation delay up to 48–72 hours for some surfaces. Do not change artwork and feed URL the same day if you can separate the stress.
